Kimono & a New Follower!

Hi all, I'd like to say a big Hi & a wave to Debs, my newest blogging buddy & follower!
Debs has candy, see my side bar for details & check out Debs blog while you're there!!
I also wanted to share this little ATC with you!
I made it for a personal swap on the

It was a fairly simple make!
For the base I used red card stock then a matt of black. Next I ran a layer of red through the Big Shot in a Wood grain Embossing Folder (this was as close as I had to bamboo!)
I then attached the origami kimono. (I'd like to say I folded it myself but not this time!) This was mounted using foam tape. I then surrounded it with little punched leaves. Not sure who the punch is by but I got it at Southfields & it has 3 different sized leaves on it! I then simply finished with a silver oriental character peel off & some gems. This ATC has been in my head for a while & I finally got it out! Yay!
It's in the post so I hope it gets there tomorrow!
Hope you like it & if you'd like to join in the swap pop on over to the forum & add your name to the ATCswap list! (The swap is simple, there aren't really any rules as such! All you have to do is  make one ATC & swap it with someone else! It can be any theme, something new or something already created the choice is yours!
Not sure what an ATC is? See Tina's explanation HERE
If you'd like any more info just holler!

I'd like to enter this little ATC in a couple of challenges

Steampunk?

Happy Monday all!
Hi ho, hi ho, it's back to work for me!
I know a lot of you will be having a lie in as I believe it's a bank holiday!
At least I'm not back to my normal work place, I have a bit of a later start as I'm on a course!
Anyhoo!!!
As you all most probably know, Monday is the day that the My Grafico DT ladies post their cards.
Here's Mine!

This week we were given the fab Steampunk Style Digital Stamps Set

from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff to work with.
I printed off the bicycle (A Penny Farthing) image, cut it to shape, sponged with Distress ink in antique linen then & matted & layered onto black & white paper..
The base card I used was a square cut from an A4 sheet.
The Vintage Sheet Music DP I have used was a freebie

I added Bicycle text (the words from the Queen song) to the paper using a font called 1942 Report. It looks like it's been done on an old typewriter. The font was free to download & I found the link for it on
Lyns blog. Spyder's Corner (check it out she has tips freebies tut's & more!)
I used the same font for the sentiment!

As I added the typed text, I thought I should add the typewriter too!

I simply cut it out with a scalloped circle nestie then matted onto a larger circle.
The typewriter & the sentiment were mounted using foam tape for a bit of dimension.
The only other additions were the two buttons, threaded with string.
Thanks for looking!
I hope you like it & I'm sure you'll find time to enter the Monthly Challenge (at least once) over at

Sunday 29 May 2011

Thank You Teacher!

Happy Sunday all!
Fed up of me yet today???
Where did that week go??
We were off & had a couple of days away, did a few things & then woosh, here we are Sunday again!
On to business then!
This week at The Crafty Pad it's Challenge #123 & we have a recipe for you!
Use 3DP's, 2 Ribbons & 1 flower! get it? 123 lol
Here without further ado is my card!

We are sponsored this week by the lovely Michelle over at Michelle's Scraps

Michelle is very kindly offering a $15 gift voucher for her store

With half term coming up, we the DT ladies were asked to use one of the fab
Incidentally there is a sale on at The Crafty Pad Designs, at the moment!

30% off all the FAB Digi Stamps
The sale runs until the 2nd June so be sure to get on over & stock up on all your digi stamps!
I have once again opted for an easel card! Somebody stop me!!! lol
I used white linen textured card from Southfield Stationers for my base card.

The layout was my own & the papers are digital from the Two Peas In A set from
I printed the image & the sentiment at actual size!
I used promarkers to colour & matted the image onto some coordinating card! I used a corner punch to give a bit of detail!
The papers were all matted & layered on to coordinating card too!

Now technically you could say I used two flowers but as I have layered them I'm counting them as one!

I wrapped my first ribbon round the easel section & secured by tying a bow. I than added the flower on top with some pinfliar glue. The centre of the flower is a piece of card candy!

I cut out the sentiment with my Nellie Snellen Frames die the matted onto a piece of coordinating card which was cut out using a scalloped circle nestie.
The stop was the whole matted & layered section at the front of the easel base.
The second ribbon was intended to make the sentiment section look like a tag & I threaded it through one of the holes on the frame shape but clumsy old me pulled too hard & burst the section! At that point I decided to cut my losses & add it as a bow!
Thanks for looking at my card! I do hope you like it!
It's for my great niece to give to her nursery teacher at the end of  term as she goes up to big school then!
Hope you can find time to enter the challenge over at The Crafty Pad this week!

Happy Birthday Princess

UPDATE! I'm delighted to say I won 3rd prize in the Craftystash comp! Whoop whoop!
Debbie will be launching a new comp next week I'll let you know all about it ASAP!
Hi everyone, I hope you are all well!
The first card I have to share with you today is my entry for the monthly competition over at
The theme this month is spots & stripes.
You must use one of  Deborah Lauder's (site owner) downloads.
There are loads of downloads to choose from including templates for all sorts of different shaped cards with fancy folds!
There are also a great number of free downloads which you can use too!
As well as her own website, Debbie's downloads are also available @ Card making Downloads.
(You will need an account at one of the stores to enable you to download!)
If you fancy a go at winning one of the fab prizes on offer, you still just about have time to do it!

Very generous, I'm sure you'll agree!

For this card I used the Birthday Princess download!
The colours are just perfect for a little girl I know who loves pink but is not all frilly pinky girly!

For the base card I used a sheet of A4 pink cardstock and cut to size.
The DP's I have used are included with the download I think there are 4 in total!
(Makes it soo easy as you don't have to go searching for something to match up!)
Debbie has included lots of little detailed decoupage bits for the more experienced crafter but if you are a beginner you can use just the bigger sections!
I cut out the decoupage with my trusty scissors & layered up using pinflair glue.
I matted & layered the sections on to contrasting papers /card.

I added some black ribbon & a few gems strategically placed. I also added a couple of punched butterflies(made using my Martha Stewart punch)
I used the layered up sentiment as the stop!
Not sure if you can make it out but the little flowers are layered up too.

This was such a fun card to make!
Thank you for looking & I hope you can find time to enter the comp!
There are some fab prizes on offer!
