Altered Art & A DT Call

Good morning all!
Todays project is something a little different for me!
Over at The Crafting Cafe this month, the theme is
I haven't done much in the way of altered art but here's what I came up with!

I altered a candle by adding the wonderful image
Working The Land by the lovely Teri over at

Regular Sponsor
who is sponsoring our challenge this month!
Simples!
This is something I have been meaning to try for ages.

I changed the colour of the image in word then printed it onto some
tissue paper which I had taped to normal printer paper.
I cut around the image, leaving a border then held against the candle
& heated with my heat gun until the wax melted enough to encase the tissue.
If you try this at home remember to be careful, it's HOT!

I wanted to go with a rustic look, so I added a little magic mesh, a piece of
cotton ribbon & a layered paper flower with some punched leaves. The items
I have used have all been in my stash for years, so it's good to use them up!
Simple but effective!
I would recommend removing the embellishments before lighting the candle!

Don't forget we are running a DT call alongside the challenge this month.
If you want to be part of our fun team, all you need to do is
add DT after your name when you link up your project!

  2. So gorgeous Dawn. I love doing this to candles, for one thing it was the only craft I could get my teenage nieces to try. They love it, they got so caught up they were doing it for friends, gifts for Christmas and even school projects. For which Sophie got an A lol. She put a picture of Mark Twain along with one of his quotes on a candle. You should try putting rub ons on candles. I rub them onto the tissue paper, then add them to the candle. I love the horse on yours, and that magic mesh is just awesome.
