Just to Say Hi & A Very Happy New Year!

Thought I'd just stop by whilst tidying up my blog & giving it a change of clothes! Sorry, I don't have a card to share I'm afraid as I've spent quite some time looking for some nice pics of the family to go into Mum's locket! I've finally managed to get that done, I just hope she's happy with it!
I would like to wish you all a very prosperous 2011! I know that 2010 has not been the best of years for many people so hopefully that will all change for the better!
Hogmany looks set to be a fun event in the centre of Edinburgh. Earlier on we heard Biffy Cliro rehearsing up in Princes Street Gardens!
I personally am seeing out this year with a dreaded lurgy hanging about & I'm due to have a house full of people on the 1st! Hope I can stay awake long enough to keep them entertained! Lol
Can I also take this opportunity to welcome my 2 new followers Stacie and fleur thanks for stopping by!

Have fun everyone & take care!

An Old Card For A New Comp

Mum's Birthday Card

Good morning all or is it afternoon??
It will be afternoon by the time I've finished posting! Lol!
I wanted to share this card with you just one more time as I've entered it in the Dec/Jan Comp over at Craftystash.
Debbie has asked that we share a favourite project from 2010! See below for details:-

This competition is very different from all of the others we have hosted, whereby I don't actually want you to make a new craft project to enter! instead I would like you to share with us your favourite project that you have completed in the year 2010.

There are no rules whatsoever - it doesn't even have to be made with a Craftystash download, it could be your favourite stamp, a scrapbook page, even your own design, I would just like to see what has made you say 'Wow! that's good!'

I think we are sometimes too quick to criticise our own crafting endeavours, however we do occasionally think 'Yeah! that's just right! :)

So if you wouldn't mind sharing the creation of 2010 which made you smile, we would just love to see it :D

Simply upload your photograph to our gallery with brief details of what makes this sooo special - it could be due to how it made you feel when you made it, or the gratitude you were shown from your loved ones.

If you do not wish to create a gallery account but would still like to enter our competition, please email your entry to me before the closing date and I will add your entry for you.

You can see my original post about this card here!

Happy Boxing Day

Good morning all!!! I trust you all had a lovely Christmas day with family & friends as I did!

I thought I'd share with you a little card that I made in around 15 minutes on Christmas eve!

The card is for my great nephew who's birthday is on Christmas Day! As usual, I was running short of time. There is always soooo much to do on Christmas eve! Fortunately I remembered this great waterfall download  which I purchased from Scrapbookingmad ages ago. It's called Horse Mad Boy and is designed by Sammy Murphy. You can purchase it here. Oliver has inherited his mothers love of all thing horsey, so I thought this would fit the bill perfectly! As I was so short of time I decided to keep it really simple!
The download comes complete with 2 backing papers. I used the plain blue for the base card & the checked one to matt the waterfall onto. I mounted the waterfall using foam pads which I feel gives a bit of room to allow the waterfall action. I added a couple of peel off corners and number 4's along with a Happy Birthday peel off. I used a silver self adhesive triangle gem type thingy for the pull & added some card candy that I got from a friend a while back!
I was quite pleased with the result & I have it on good authority that he loved it too, so all is well! Thanks for saving the day Sammy!
I have entered this card in the December competition over at the Cardmaking Downloads forum, where the theme is any card any theme as long as it's made with something purchased from Cardmaking Downloads or Scrapbookingmad.

A Clean & Simple Christmas Card!

Three posts in one day! I do apologise for hogging the network!!!
Thought I'd share one of my Christmas cards with you!

The image is a Just Inklined Digi Stamp called Little Church In The Snow! You can find it here! I've coloured it with my trusty Promarkers and cut out with my Nesties! I added some Diamond Sparkles Glitter but it's difficult to see! I matted the image onto some blue spotted paper from my stash & some blue mirri card. I added a ribbon, some star & round gems & a metal sentiment from my stash!
I'd like to enter it in the following challenges

Edinburgh Winter Wonderland!

Ah the irony!!! We decided to go out for a wander as we couldn't take the car out again due to the snow! Didn't intend to but ended up in the centre of Edinburgh. We cut through St Andrews Square Gardens and saw this chap.
He was making snow bless him!!!! We have, interestingly enough, had about 6inches of snow today!

At the other side of the gardens is this lovely wooden Nativity Scene!

Walking down towards Princes Street we have The Scott Monument & the Big Wheel in Princes Street Gardens! In the Gardens there is a Scottish Market & at the foot of the Mound there is a German Market. It was quite quiet today but normally it's mobbed at the weekend!

This is the Ice Rink in the Gardens! They've had to clear the snow to allow people to skate! That's what the big mound is at the front of the pic! If you look closely you can see the little Penguins that the kids are using to help them keep upright!!! Soo Cute!!
This final pic is of the Caterpillar ride at the kids funfair! They must have been frozen as it was cold enough for us just walking about!!!

Most Definitely Not a Christmas Card!

Yesterday was my dearly beloved's Birthday so I made him this little card!

So nice to get away from the conveyor belt Christmas cards!!! We certainly have been a production line this year!!!

I loved this image the minute I saw it! He's Strongo The Manificent and is from Just Inklined. You can Purchase him here!

I simply printed him off & coloured him with my Promarkers.I tried several different colourways but decided to go with this one! I then cut him out with my nesties on the big shot.
The card base is printed with Spring time backing papers available from Scrapbookingmad. I have used them to do the matting & layering too!

The Unique tickets are from Sentiments 4 you & I coloured the outside edges again with promarkers & attached with foam pads for dimension. My other half is most certainly unique!

The Greeting is computer generated, I'm sorry I can't remember the name of  the font but will update if I do! It's not on the laptop so would need to power up the desktop!
The ribbon was recycled from one of my pressies!

Feeling Tyred?

Firstly I'd like to give a big wave to 2 new followers Trina & Minta, welcome & thanks for joining us ladies!!!
Thought I'd share this card with you today! My husband is writing the Christmas cards as I make them so no time for pics!!! We're way behind this year & trying to get them all posted in time! So definitely feeling more than a little tyred myself!!!
For a bit of light relief I made this card for my niece's husband's Birthday!

The image is "Feeling Tyred" & is a Just Inklined Digi Stamp available here!
I coloured him with my Promarkers, cut him out with my nesties, matted him on to two different papers from my stash added a bit of ribbon & put him on a shaped card with a computer generated greeting! The font I used is "Elephant" I'm guessing it was a free font!
Simples!!!
Hope you like him!

Christmas Card With Attitude!

Hi, today's offering is another Grumpy Gretchen Elf from Digi's With Attitude! This is December's Freebie & I think she's fab! I was meeting Mum & Dad today & wanted to get their card done. I had coloured her up  with my Promarkers already & printed off the card & greeting, so I just had to pull it all together!

I decided she would look good on an easel card!
The base card is from a download by Elaine Hayhoe over at Cardmaking Downloads! She is one of my fav designers at the moment & is quite new to designing on a commercial basis although she has been designing for her own creations as long as I've known her! The dotty paper is by Elaine also!
The sentiments are computer genterated & the text is in a free font called Andy!
I added some silver ribbon from my stash & a build your own pointsetta also from my stash. I added a bit of glitz to her hat dress & belt as well as the brad in the centre of the flower with my Diamond Sparkles!

For the stop I used more of the printed card & the silver ribbon, which I attached with foam pads, to give the depth!
I would like to enter this card in the following challenges!

Office Party Blog Hop Christmas Card!

I followed the Digi's With Attitude!/Drunken Stampers 1st combined Design Team  Office Party Blog Hop yesterday! Oh what fun I had along the way! It's well worth a look at all the DT cards! At the end of the hop, you're asked to enter a card in the theme of the hop or for someone in the office!!
Here's mine!

Poor Gretchen has turned up at the Office Party & is the only one in Fancy Dress! Did someone play a little joke on her or did she mishear someone saying "Wear a fancy dress!" (This Digi is free this month & you can get her here!)
I needed it in a hurry as I have to give it to one of the girls at work, who gave me a card & pressie today & after tomorrow, I won't see her again until well into next year!! I also have my neice staying as she's having difficulty travelling to work in the arctic conditions we're having right now!
For that reason I decided to keep it fairly simple. I used some shiny papers as a matt & to punch out the little Christmas trees too! I did want to use snowflakes but have leant out my snowflake punch & didn't have anything in the colours I wanted! I coloured Gretchen with promarkers & added some Diamond Sparkles to liven up the furry bits! I hope you like her!

I would also like to enter this card into the 2 Sisters Challenge Blog Sparkly Christmas

A Girly Christmas Card

(Hi all, just a quick reminder that my Birthday Candy is still up for grabs here!)
At last I have managed to get my competition entry done for the
November Comp over at Cardmaking Downloads
The November theme was for Christmas!
You must use a download from either Cardmaking Downloads or Scrapbookingmad to enter
but there are many different styles of downloads to choose from!
I used a combination of two downloads designed by Elaine Hayhoe.
I love the non traditional colours she has used and, as intend this card to go to a lady
who lives on her own,  it's an ideal girly card!

The main download is the pyramage and border with the sentiment.
The base card is made with backing papers which are included with this and another download.
The only added elements are a few pieces of ribbon which came tied round
cards & envelopes that I bought!

I did also use a border punch on the stop.
I quite like the effect of the matting and layering under the punched section

Have entered this into the  2 Sisters Challenge Blog  Challenge#15

Another Birthday Card With Attitude

Made a card for a friends little boy whose birthday it is today!
He's been a bit of a monkey with his antics lately so when I saw this image on Digi's With Attitude! the other day, I immediately thought of him! It made me laugh as on the same day I got this image I saw the card his mum had made for him. It too featured a monkey!!!
Don't know why I wanted to make a round card, it just seemed to fit the image! My first ever round easel card!
The backing paper has been in a file on my pc forever it's from some Jungle Safari Clip Art which I purchased at Sammy Murphy's Scrapbooking Mad, the site that got me into downloads way back when!!! Made a host of friends on the forum there too!
Anyway, again I digress!!! I coloured the image with my promarkers and then cut it out out with my nesties, on the Big shot Express, but when I embossed it the image slipped! (Still not found the best way to do this & all tuts are for Big Shot manual with different platforms. If anyone can advise I'd be delighted!) I think it looks quite good the way it is, double embossed on one side!
I printed out the greeting & coloured it with promarkers and went round the edges of the circle with the same pen.

My Floral Birthday Card & More Candy

Hi, just had to share with you the surprise I got at work today! There was a knock on the surgery door & the porter handed me a parcel with my name on!!!
I opened it, thinking it looked a bit odd for an NHS order & to my surprise I found this!

It's a floral card with real live flowers! Beautiful is it not!
I've never heard of these before so it was a lovely surprise! I text Mum & Dad to say thanks but wish I hadn't said anything as Mum was upset that it didn't come on the right day! It was a stroke of luck that I was actually working in that perticular place today as I don't work there every Wednesday!!!
Anyhoo I'm delighted with it & will have it tomorrow morning!!! Think I'll put it in the fridge & surprise myself again tomorrow!!!!

As I'm in a good mood & got home to find the doormat strewn with envelopes, I have decided to add another small surprise to my Birthday Candy!!! I was going to post a pic, but I think I'll keep it a mystery for now at least!!!
Back in a while with another card!

Birthday Card With Attitude!

Had to make a card for a friend who's birthday is on the same day as mine! I have to say she's a good bit younger than I am but hey ho who says your friends have to be the same age!!!
Having discovered Digi's With Attitude! after I recieved the blog award from Carly, I'm smitten!

This little beauty was a freebie! I found her when I went over to spend my voucher! Yes folks it's true, the voucher is there if you follow the conditions! Anyhoo, I digress!!!!

Here is the card I made with the Cheerleader image!
Isn't she great? I coloured the image with Promarkers, matted & layered onto some papers that I've had forever in my stash my stash, one of which I punched the edge of.  I apologise for the picture quality but couldn't get the light right!!!

I added some ribbon and some paper roses.
Oooohhhh makes me feel like singing........
anyway, back to the point!!!
I printed the grreeting straight onto the card
and finished it off with an insert!

I would like to enter it for the Challenge #7 Sports Theme, on the Digi's with Attitude! Challenge Blog!
I would also like to add it to Challenge 79 on Passion for Promarkers

Christmas Card

Hi, thought I'd share an example of my overseas Christmas card for this year! I have made a variety of these using different colours to colour in the design & different backing papers to matt onto!
Basically I used a Just Inklined digi stamp, which I think I got as a freebie, from imag-e-nation. It's called Little Church in The Snow and I loved it the minute I saw it!

As my husband posts the overseas cards every year I have to keep the postage to a minimun! (Lol, he is originally from Aberdeen)
I like to keep my Christmas cards fairly simple any way, just as well eh!!!
To help achieve this I printed the greeting straight on to the front of the card & I printed the verse inside thus negating the need for an insert!
The image was coloured with promarkers & I think you can see I added  a bit of sparkle with my quickie glue pen & my Diamond Sparkles.

I have entered this card for the One Stitch at a Time Challenge Season/ Event  Winter/Christmas
I have also entered the Crafty Calender Challenge#14 no optional snowflakes but lots of snow!!!
Also the Gingerloft Challenge 6 The Great Outdoors I think this fits the bill!
As well as Scrappy Frog Merry Christmas Challenge
And Stacey's Stamping Stage Colour Challenge

Retirement Cake!

Just had to share this pic I found on my phone. Some of you will remember I went to Mum's friends house for a crafty evening a week or so back! She had just retired from a career caring for the elderly.
Someone at work made her a cake but she can't bring herself to cut into it! I can't blame her, can you???

All those little cakes & teacups, how wonderful is that??? Well done to the lady who had the patience to make all these tiny little things!! Wish I could do something like that!!!

Birthday Card for a Dear Friend

Made this card last weekend & forgot I had taken pics of it! It was sealed on the mantlepiece ready for posting off then I found out I had the date wrong! Eeek!!! Hopefully she has it now & I do soo apologise for it being late!!!

It's the same digi stamp as I used for my Birthday invites coloured with promarkers but cut out with my Nesties labels 1 as are the DP matts. I printed the greeting straight from the pc onto the card added some paper flowers & some gems and that was it!

I took a close up of the flowers but I see a big blob of Pinflair glue! Too late to do anything about it now!!!

November ATCs For CMD Swap

Took part in the November swap over at Cardmaking Downloads Forum. The theme this month was Hello Cupcake! At first I didn't think I could do it but eventually came up with some little easel ATCs  made using a download from the Cardmaking Download Website.

I have seen some swaps where the ATCs are all the same, decided I'd make them all the same but different!!!
The backing papers used for the base cards are all designed for using with this pyramage. They pyramage has been inked at the edges using different coloured promarkers.

The stoppers were punched at the bottom using 2 different types of punch! I did have a third pic but it's gone AWOL but I'm sure you have the general idea by now!!!
Whilst I'm here I'd like to welcome my latest follower Happy Days! Nice to see you & thanks for following!
That's it for now I'm afraid! I do have another card & perhaps something else to share with you tomorrow!
Until then.........
