New Home Card

I made this little card using a free digi image from

She is running a 'Not Mushroom For A Mouse, House' Challenge.
All you have to do is email Lyn & she'll send you the image. If you enter the challenge,
she'll send you another free image to enter next months challenge!
I do have to say, this card is more on the purple side than the blueish appearance it has in this pic!
I coloured the image using Whispers Markers, Promarkers and Sakura pens.
I chalked the sky and the grass at the botttom.
I cut out the letters on my Big Shot and used a corner punch on the image.
I glittered the letters using my quickie glue pen & Diamond Sparkles.
(I find it less fiddly to stick the letters down first & glitter them after.)
The ribbon was from my stash.
Have also entered this card in the

UPDATE
I was kindly voted one of 5 runners up in Spyder's Challenge! Thank you sooo much for my lovely Digi Prize! Felt like I had already won as we got a free digi just for entering!!!

A Crafty Tip For Top Tip Tuesday

Top Tip Tuesday has launched with its fab first 'top tip' today on how to make
flowers from paper doily's. They have also challenged us to share a top tip with you!
As I have previously posted my favourite 'bits of ribbon from your clothes' tip for you
I thought I'd share another one which was given to me by my Mum.
When using chalks on a project, they are prone to smudging or rubbing off.
To avoid this, just spritz over the finished project with a cheap non scented hairspray.
This will fix the chalks ensuring they stay put.
Hope you find it useful!

End of Festival Fireworks

We've just been upstairs at our bedroom window watching the fireworks
to mark the end of the Edinburgh Festival!
I have to say it was one of the best displays I have seen in a long time!
The fireworks and the music were perfectly synched!!!
We are soooo lucky to be able to see the bulk of the fireworks from home!
It's quite a squash if you go up to Princes Street!
The music by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra is broadcast on the local radio station
& we can have a lovely glass of wine into the bargain!
Well done to all involved! Spectacular display!!!
Will have a look at the pics I took on my phone but I'm guessing none will do any justice!!!
If I find one I will post it!
As I guessed, none of the pics did any justice to the fireworks but I will share a pic
from our walk this afternoon!

This chap appeared unannounced some time back, in the Water Of Leith
and for a while nobody knew where he came from.
However, after a bit it turned out that he and a few others were a gift from a famous artist.
They are metal sculptures but from a distance they look human!
Can't begin to tell you about the trouble it caused when people spotted them around the place!

Anniversary Card

I made this Anniversary card using a download designed by
 Deborah Lauder over at Craftystash
The base card is hammered card, I built up the pyramage using pinflair glue,
outlined using a marker pen matted using a tissue paper strip which I got in the pound shop!
(Always read the label, I thought I was buying sheets of tissue for gift wrapping! Doh!)
I punched out the daisies as I didn't have any flowers which were the right colour,
layerd them and attached with brads and pinflair glue.
I used a promarker to add a bit of detail to the daisies but it's difficult to see on the photo.
I then added a ribbon and a little 'handmade with love' charm to finish it off.
Have posted this card in the ACLP challenge

Blog Award "Cherry On Top"

Whoopee! I've just received a blog award with "A CHERRY ON TOP" from Ali over at

It's for 'beautiful blogs with that little bit extra!'

Thank you so very much for that Ali, not sure I'm worthy but I really do appreciate it!

Now for the rules of receiving this award:

1. Thank the person that gave it to you! Already done that but for the record,"Thanks again Ali my lovely cyber buddy!"

2. Post it with pride on your blog....it's done, and with SOOOO MUCH PRIDE I could burst!

3. List 3 things you love about yourself. Oh dear, must I??....I'll have to think about that one!!
Okay, here goes I am trustworthy, caring and faithful!
Sounds a bit cheesy but "Managing to turn a blind eye to the dusting, ironing and vaccuming" just didn't seem the right thing to say! lol

4. Post a picture you love....

This is my Great Niece Jessica, who was dressed up in her mums old
highland dancing outfit.
It had been modified for my older niece dressing up but Jess was keen to model it & brought
loads of happy memories flooding back as she looks so like her mum did way back when!!
Just for good measure better add one of Emily (her little sis) too

Okay, so this is Emily with her great grandparents, they are all looking at a balloon!
I love this photo of them all!

5. Tag 5 other people for this Award.....I'll have to figure that one out too as I'm new to blogging and still finding my way around!
1) Has to be Nikki over at What Nikki Did Next. She was my early inspiration and did the first ever cardmaking demo I went to! Thanks for the inspiration Nikki!
2) Jacqui over at Cats WhiskersI love her blog, tutorials and cards! Thanks for the inspiration Jacqui!
3) Paula over at Paula's Pretty Things
4) Elaine over at Quixotic Cards
as I still have one of these left to give out I have decided to give it to
5)Emma, over at Crazyems Corner the newest blogger on the block! There's not much on her blog yet but I can sense a lot of good things to come so Emma, it's all yours honey! ( For this one I'm prepared to bend the rules and if you can pass it on to one or two people that would be sufficient!

50th Anniversary Easel Card

This 50th Anniversary Easel Card was made using a wonderful download
I printed both sides of the base card with the champagne glass backing paper.
I inked the edges using a gold Whispers Brushstokes pen, added a layer of the
50 backing paper also inked with gold. I matted the pyramage on to gold card
which I had embossed with a Dawny design Cuttlebug folder
Added another piece of embossed card onto which I added ribbon detail & flowers.
I highlighted the 50, some bubbles and the brads and the greeting with
 Butterfly Trails Diamond Sparkles.
The greeting was matted onto another piece of embossed card with ribbon and
another flower and used as the stop for the easel section.
Hope you like it, I had fun making it!
I have entered this card in the Cardmaking and Papercraft Quick Easel Challenge
UPDATE
I also entered this card in the Industrial Section of the "Dalkeith Horticultural Show"
,make a card for a 50th Anniversary (It's their 50th Show) and won second prize!
